Forgive me for I have sinned.......

Serioulsy committed "wife sin".......very bad and not sure if Shane will ever forgive me. IN my excitement of raving about my race and how happy I was with my sprinting and my commitment to the sprints as opposed to the "I cant sprint so I wont try" attitude that constantly raises its head. I forgot to mention that in the big scheme of things, Shane came third in what was the Gippsland Criterium Championship. It was a fierce A grade field of riders including all of the local club criterium champions and when the move was made by Kane Walker (2XU) and Sam Beveridge (Apollo), Shane worked hard, got on the wheels and rode on the back the rest of the weay...Easy to be a wheel suck I hear you say?.....you dont have to say it so loud. Shane did do some turns but in smart cycling fashion  kept it so that if there was another attack, he had fuel in the legs to go with it and maybe try for a better place. Race smart!

On the final lap, Shane lead the boys out for the final sprint and Kane took off earier than expected and Sam hot footed it on Kanes wheel and left Shane coming in for third. This group nearly lapped the rest of the field and with 6 laps to go were in a position to lap the field. BUT wanting to keep their sprint clean and avoid messy and dangerous stuff happenng at the end, remained behind the lead car which was now travelling behind the main bunch. It was very exciting and I am very proud of my husband in his race., As you can see by the pic there is a slight age gap between the two younger riders and Shane (He is on the Right in case you are still not sure).

So well done Shane - third in Gippsland in the open crtiterium championship and it was awesome to see Sammy Beveridge in second behond Kane, he has improved heaps and heaps

Stilesy from Warragul and Ben from our club both worked to get on but never quite made it to the breakaway group who gunned it away from the bunch. So fundamentally none of the regions crit champions were in the right place at the right time.....

I could write a bit more about the race, but just wanted to give Shane a big rap, even though these are MY diary pages......I thought he deserves special mention. x
